If you have registered for or been invited to play in a competition, these instructions will walk you through the first time you register for an account and join the competition. If you already have a GYO account, these instructions will look slightly different.
To begin, please find the competition registration link you were sent, or you can browse leagues and tournaments to find your competition.
Within the competition portal, you will find options to join specific divisions or seasons that are divided by ages, game titles, platforms, and more. Find the appropriate division that matches your preferences (example: Rocket League, Age 11-12) and select Register.
Note: These instructions pertain to a first time account creation process. If you already have a GYO account, please login and your step will look slightly different.
Start your registration by selecting the Parent/Mentor option during registration.
Complete the personal information screen using YOUR information, not your child's. You will enter child information later.
For entering your child's information, you have two primary options. You can manage and control the child's account entirely, which makes you responsible for score reporting, rescheduling, etc. Or you can give your child access to their own account via their own email, and they can manage independently with your oversight. Click here to read more about this options.
The final screen allows you to define your communication preferences, accept terms, and complete the final steps to creating your profile. In this section, we recommend you consider adding College/Scholarship opportunities as this will allow college recruiters to review player profiles and potentially make offers for scholarships.
With the exception of the terms agreement, these features are optional, so review each one and select what is optimal for you.
If you completed these steps properly, you should now be registered and your child should be as well. The next steps for you are to await further communication from the league administrator and then follow instructions on how to play your matches.
To get a head start on what that process looks like, you can read our guide on How to Play in Competitions.
